Happy Father's Day!

It is only fitting that Opus 2 is nearing the finish line around father's day as this model is a gift for my dad. Amongst a fairly busy weekend, I managed to get a few things done. First would be cutting, gluing and painting the skins for the two pedal towers. Currently, it only has one coat and will need to be lightly sanded and given one or two more coats. Afterward, the pipes can finally be glued in and both towers will be 100% complete.

Next came the pedalboard. After thinking how I made the one for Op. 1, which wasn't the greatest, I went with something different and it worked! It's all about the dimensions. All are 3/32" wide. The heights vary in two ways. The naturals, which will be brown, are 3/16" high. The accidentals are made up of two parts that are 1/8" high. The bottom extends the same length as the accidentals (1.50in). The next extends 5/8" and is glued on top. This gives two different elevations, similar to any pedalboard. The accidents will be painted black and so will the base that all these pedal keys will be glued to.

So here's to a happy and blessed fathers day! Here's to a dad that deserves it all as he has given and taught me so much. Here's to you, dad!
